The Swing

“Put me down!”

Jared grinned as Jensen ineffectually beat on his chest. He hefted Jensen's weight more comfortably. “No.”

“Jared, put me down!”

“Abbie, door,” Jared said, ignoring his husband’s ruffled feathers, waited while the dog nosed the sliding door in the kitchen open far enough for him to insert his foot and move it the rest of the way. “Watch your head,” he said, hooking the frame of the door with his fingers to close it.

“Jared, I can walk, and it would be far easier if I did!” A note of exasperation was creeping into Jensen’s voice. He hit Jared's chest again.

"Ow! Watch it, dude, that hurt."

"So. Put. Me. Down!" Jensen punctuated each word with a smack against Jared's chest, eyes sparking with annoyance.

"No." His grin broadened and he had to struggle not to laugh as he started walking. "Come on, Abbie," he called, and she pricked her ears and took up a position by his side as they headed around the side of the house and into the garden where Beth took formal photographs for weddings. There were no weddings to interrupt them today. In fact, they were the only ones home - Ty and Neil had taken a long overdue weekend off and were... well, doing whatever it was Ty and Neil did during a weekend off, and everyone else had found reasons to be elsewhere, which left Jared and Jensen home alone for the first time since February - and that hadn't really been alone alone, since Ty and Neil had been within easy calling distance. And it was a gorgeous spring day. Jared intended to make the most of it, even if it meant he had to carry an unwilling and annoyed Jensen down to the garden in his arms. He'd been planning this all morning.

"Jared? Please?" A wheedling tone crept into Jensen's voice.

"No. Just a tiny bit longer, Jen."

Jensen huffed a sigh, gave up for the time being.

"Here we are," Jared said. He saw Jensen look around as Jared lowered him onto the garden swing, taking in their location in the garden. Jared had reclined the back of the swing so that it was more like a garden "bed" when he was out earlier walking Abbie. He had also covered the hard seating pad with a comforter by way of extra padding, and retrieved the cushions from the storage shed. Jared laid Jensen on his side, pulled off his boots and used the cushions as he would the pillows on their bed, placing one under his head and another between his knees, before walking around to the other side. He toed off his shoes, lay down facing Jensen, starting the swing rocking as he sat. Jensen's mood had changed; he was watching him closely, an affectionate smile on his face, reaching up to brush a stray lock of hair out of Jared's eyes.

"Hey, you." Jared eased his body over, gracefully undulating.

"Hey, yourself." He let his hand drop, cupping Jared's cheek. "Sorry about... before."

"'S all right. I know that I'm not as cuddly as your laptop, but--" Jared teased as he settled himself more comfortably, edging ever closer, gave the frame a poke with his toes to keep the swing moving. "Warm enough?"

"Yeah, 'm good." Jensen tilted his head back, asking, and Jared leaned in, dropped his mouth over Jensen's willing mouth.

Jensen relaxed as Jared's strong, warm hand landed on his side. He'd known Jared had something planned from the moment he'd come back in from his run with Abbie that morning, just from the conspiratorial smile he exchanged with Emilio as he left with his girls. Ty and Neil had been gone since Friday night - had waited for Jared to get home before they left for their weekend away, planned since the St Valentine's Day weekend. Jared had been unfailingly cheerful the whole weekend, seemed to have thrived in his role as carer, and Jensen just let him do what needed to be done, trying hard not to argue or complain. He was finding it hard to believe that this was the same Jared who had freaked out over their wedding in December. A piece of paper and a couple of gold rings - that's all it had taken.

And well, OK, maybe him being willing to set stuff aside, carve more time out for them.

Jensen moved his hand to the back of Jared's head, his lips quirking up as Jared tugged him closer, until they were almost nose to nose. "So, you wanna, ah, get kinky?" he asked, tipping his head back for another kiss.

"That..." Jared started to say, only to be silenced by Jensen's lips meeting his again. He drew back slightly to continue, "Was the general idea."
